Glasses or Spec?

This is just to finish up the speculation that I am making since watching GP Vegas Modern.  There was that Blue Steel deck that got me interested in those cards.  Hopefully I can brew my own desk with that style as I could see something really cool coming from that combo.

Anywho...

These were the most important card to the deck, so we will see how this goes.  Hopefully this deck becomes well liked in the Meta and I can reap something from this speculation in the trading market.

Thank you CardSphere!

Card Count: 245

So yeah, go away for a work trip and you will come home with a mailbox full of packages to open. This is going to be a longer post, but that is because I am just trying to catch up with all these beautiful new cards ticking down that card count.

Seriously, we are below 300 needed cards.  We started this years ago with needing over 25,000 cards. This is from that first blog with the countdown.

Phase 1: Get Playsets for all the Core and Expansion sets
Phase 2: Get all the Duel Decks/From the Vaults/Beginner sets
Phase 3: Trade the not NM/M cards for NM/M cards
Phase 4: 1 Sealed Booster Box of every Core and Expansion set

So yeah, it has changed since and we no longer need Phase 2 and switched it up to supplementary sets, and that was only because we were able to finish this older phase with a trade to ABU Games when I traded away the sealed Unglued booster boxes for a ton of sealed product.  Phase 3 is still there, but I don't think that will be a phase anymore, but rather something we will do while trying to complete these phases.  And Phase 4, that will just happen along the way as we have more money to spend.  I had spoken about this part of the collection, but it is much more about budgeting than phases.

So yeah, here we go!

Nice little package with a basic land.  This is one thing that I do enjoy, I get 1-4 cards a lot with this site.  There is not a lot of huge senders, which is super cool because I know they are adding to their balance to get cards while just turning their bulk into cash.

This was a larger trade that I got in.  This trader actually accepted multiple sends, but sent them all at once in a single package.  I can tell you this much, I was the happiest to get the basic lands.

Sweet 5 carder with a Lorwyn card!  And...and...I only need one more Saviors of Kamigawa!

Yes, that is 1 of the 3 cards left I need for Betrayers of Kamigawa that should all be coming in!

So yeah, this BoP was not that great, and it came from a Canadian trader!  Completely unlike those north of the wall.  But yeah, just accepted it and moved on.  Seriously how many Birds does one collection need?

This is a big and wonderful trade that I got in, and I am actually competing with this guy for the top spot of Cards Sent on CardSphere.  I actually got the top spot for a week or so, but then he took it back.  I am hoping that with this latest number of cards I am sending to take the top spot back!

Champions of Kamigawa card in this trade.  I only need 4 more cards, and 3 of them are basic lands!

Bla bla cards...

Ooooooooooooh!  That Eventide card is 1 of 2 that is going to get finished out for that set in this blog!

Single card that brought a trader some cash for that balance!!!

Core to the core.

And more Core...

And Core, oh but wait.... EVENTIDE Done!!!!!  BOOM!!!!!  I seriously need 5 basic lands to finish out the whole Lorwyn / Shadowmoor blocks!

And more Core...  I am seeing that I really did not put enough priority into the pre M10 core sets, but yeah we planned it that way, since all those sets were reprints.  Core...

So yeah, 90% core cards, and 10% cards that are getting me closer to the playsets from all the expansions.

Champions of Kamigawa: 5 Cards
Betrayers of Kamigawa: 3 Cards
Saviors of Kamigawa: 1 Card
Ravnica: 1 Card
Lorwyn: 7 Cards

That is all that I need to accept to finish up the Expansions.  That means I will have a playset of every card from The Dark to Kaladesh.  A fucking playset!  What the fuck is wrong with me?  Literally it is $10.47 away.  I could eat that much at McDonalds...  Why don't I just go buy them off TCGPlayer? Because it is the principle of the thing!  I am also showing about 47 cards that should be coming in, and I really need to setup up my Deckbox trades.

Whew, well I am off to pack up some packages and send some cards out, then I will see what I can get done on the Deckbox.  This is super exciting!

Back from work trip

Card Count: 387

Exciting times!  Got a huge trade done on Deckbox, and really it started out as a small trade that just covered my wishlist neads, but then it expanded to Phase 2 cards as well.  I even pulled 2 Unlimited cards!  So let's get into it!

Unlimited

So yeah, did not think about starting on this set, but figured if I could get them in the trade I would.  I also really don't like to collect cards from older sets online, but I got pictures so took a gamble.  Nice additions!

Starter 2000

So these cards are just fun to get.  There is only 53 cards to the set, so let's see if I can get them all.  But again, this is a Phase 2 collection need.

6th Edition

These are some highly desired Phase 1 collection cards, and really started the trade.  But seriously, I only need 67 more cards to complete me playsets.

7th Edition

Another set of Phase 1 cards needed and funny enough I need less 7th Edition cards than 6th Edition.

8th Edition

Repeating myself again, and more Phase 1 cards.  I am finding it much easier to get 8th, 9th, and Tenth Edition cards, and they seem to come in better condition.

9th Edition

Bla bla bla, more words...

Starter 1999

These were beautiful!  Starter 1999 cards in just perfect condition.  Just a wonderful Phase 2 pickup that I feel is going to be more difficult than most sets.

Portal

These are Phase 2 cards, but I am going to full playsets of these because we had a ton from when we first played back in the day.  I do need 38 more cards, so it is always good to find these.

Portal Second Age

These cards were a good add, and there are not a lot of these we need for the playsets.  I actually have some sealed booster boxes left over that I might try and trade away for some other sealed boxes I am looking for.

Overall a great trade, and of course it was with a Canadian trader.  And once again the conditions were just out of this world.  It is becoming so evident that Canadian players treat their card better than US folks, and I am actively seek out trades with folks from Canada.  I am kind of hoping that finishing up with Phase 1 will be occurring at the same time I will finish Phase 2.

More and the More

Card Count: 436

I pulled in some more trades from Cardsphere and part of my speculation came in.  Big story with this blog is the finish of Future Sight!  That means I only need 9 more Modern sets to finish out! Seriously so close!

I did also have some store credit with TCGPlayer, so I decided to pick up some cards that are used for a Modern deck I saw this last weekend called Blue Steel.  It was super interesting, and one of the cards was a Standard rare that I see a ton of value in.  Let's check out the Speculation cards I got in.

So this is one part of the combo, and it let's your creature tap to cast artifacts or artifact abilities.  The other part of the combo is Grand Architect, but those have yet to come in.

Then there are these:

So yeah, I just picked up 20 of these.  Now, these are used in the deck, but I see a lot more use for these cards than the Blue Steel deck.  All I can think about is Green, Blue, White deck with taking turns, mana elves and Stasis.  Creatures ramping into taking turns, Stasis not untapping anything, and these thrones just doing damage.  I need to figure it out, but I hope to make some Legacy deck with this.

Now to good old Cardsphere!

I did get this card yesterday, and should have blogged about it, but started playing Oxygen Not Included and just got lost in the screen.

So a lot of these are Core sets, and basically I am just missing a ton of Core sets, but I did get some good expansion sets.  Basically every expansion set I am getting is just closing out the sets!

FUTURE SIGHT DONE!!!!!!  That is all...
