First off, Broke 206k! Long way to go!
So at some point in time I hope to be writing about an incident on CardSphere that has really upset me. It has to deal with a trader thinking that I sent them fake cards. Some I know are not fake, but one could be because I bought it through a collection. Only issue I have is why in the all fucking hell would someone reback a card that has been reprinted in Dominaria and is worth less than $1. So until I get through the whole process I will wait on posting something on my Blog.
Love CardSphere, but some traders are complete idiots. The only problem is that I could have sent a card that was rebacked that is worth less than $1.
On with the show!
This had come in a long time ago, and I just have not written a new Blog. I am not sure how I feel about the cards that are still in this type of package, but I also do not see the need to pull it out of the packaging because I really do not play with foil cards. So.... leave it. But yeah, I keep getting these Player Promo cards, so that makes me happy. I just have no idea how I am going to get the Tokens.
Modern Horizons, oh how I hate thee. So I was up at a local LGS and they normally crack boxes and put out bulk stuff for reasonable prices. Most of the bulk is $0.50 to $1.00 and I am able to just snag some stuff locally. It is a little higher than CardSphere, but hey support your LGS right?
Yep, don't really care at what price, but if I can get these two cards I will snake them up. I have high hopes for that Mox.
A playset of these to close out that need, and at $0.50 I could not say no.
I like this card, and I think with the return to Theros this one might see a spike.
This was a $0.50 Mythic Rare for sale. The card is not worth that much right now, but it will increase in price as the set is rotated out of, and as time goes on. It is much more of a collection play than a spec, just cant beat that price.
And some Modern Horizons foil cards. I know, I do not buy Foils, but when there is an ass ton of them, and for some reason I think that MH1 cards are going to be a bit more rare than others, I just felt like these cards could have some runway. I only spent around $10 for the bunch, so why not.
I also picked up this new release, and funny thing is I actually stuck to my plan of only getting 2 of them! Last year I got 5 so I could have a playset, but this year I stuck with the plan and only got 2. Now watch, something in this set is going to spike and I will be punching myself in the face, but at least I stuck with my plan!
So I still only opened up 1 box of MH1 and I still nee over 870 cards for my playset, but I do plan on picking up those slowly for the rest of the year. The prices all shot way high after release, and now that the latest Modern MagicFest is over, I am hoping that some of the prices will come down. I do need to pick up those lands pretty quick though, but I do not plan to open any more sealed product for my sets, yet...

I got sick
Total Trade Count: 206,232
Total Foil Count: 3,753
So I have been pretty sick the last two weeks, and just have not done much with anything other than going to bed after we put the kiddo down to sleep. I am actually writing this from my day job because I need to get an update out there, and I am sitting on an all day meeting that is not really that important, so I might as well be productive.
Big to do, Modern Horizons was released and I did open one box. I am still considering opening another box, but I am waiting to see how low the prices go down before I do that.
Complete Playset on Release: $2555.08
Complete Playset on 6/19: $2252.72
Current need: $1960.95
Current Collection: $305.78
Why am I spouting out all these numbers? Well it is what I try and manage to. I normally open sealed product to get the cards I need, but I am trying to not add to my bulk. That means I am trying to open the least amount as possible so that I do not end up with a ton of bulk cards added to my trading fodder.
With the single box being opened this is where I ended up.
C Needed: 52
U Needed: 212
R Needed: 179
M Needed: 57
C Cost: $9.03
U Cost: $70.40
R Cost: $802.33
M Cost: $920.71
So you can see here that I do need a lot more uncommons so it might be worth it to open another box, but I really only need $70.40 more worth of Uncommons. Is that worth the 36 Rares and Mythic Rares that I will get from the box? I will only be getting 108 Uncommons, and I will still need at least 104 Uncommons after I open the box. I am pretty sure I am going to get all the Commons I need, but is that a good enough reason to open another box? I am going to end up with at least 344 commons that I do not need.
Also, with Modern Horizons, they released special Art Cards and I need 18 out of 54 cards. I can expect to maybe get 10 cards I need. But there are also the token cards too. They released some new double-sided tokens along with foil tokens, so just from that fact it might be nice to open more.
But as of right now, I opened one booster box, and I am going to be monitoring the price of cards that I need for at least 3 months, and wait for the prices to come down. The only issue with that tactic is I am trying to time the market, and if there is some tournament that showcases some cards from this set, I might be looking at an increase in price rather than a decrease. If the prices of the boxes come down to a point where I can snag some more, I might just crack some packs.
One main reason I pre-ordered from my LGS was to get a playset of the Buy-a-Box promo, Flusterstorm. I now have a playset from Commander, Iconic Masters, and Modern Horizons. I appreciated this card so much for the legacy environment I actually have 3 playsets from Commander, but now I am attempting to trade one playset away. I think as soon as it sees Modern play the price will start to creep up, and since this was just a BaB released card, I think there is a good runway for it.
Like I do when I am at my FLGS, I check to see if they have any cards that I need, and lucky me they did have an Ultimate Masters Mikaeus! I swear I have been looking for these last three UMA cards for the longest time. I do hope to close out my box toppers when MagicFest Minneapolis shows up in Aug. Now I only need two more regular UMA cards for my set.
Seeing as I was sick for so long, it has been a while since I updated my incoming trades. I decided to put up more of the Player Reward Promos that I needed and they started to roll in. This was a nice pick up.
I have also started to post my rotation needs at reduced prices, and here are just some that have come in.
I am really surprised on how easy it is to get some of these cards. As long as they are priced right, folks really jump in on sending these cards.
I only need 6 more Rival of Ixalan cards left, and 5 Ixalan cards, but the Ixalan cards I play to pick up from my LGS. They are on the higher priced side, and I want to send them some support.
And more of those XLN and RIX cards.
And here is the last of them.
This was a card I added to my Wants because there were multiple flavor text printings. They had 4 different kinds of non-foil cards, and 2 different foil cards. This was the last one I needed, and yes I did pick up playsets of the non-foil ones, but just singles of the foil ones.
So that was it, and other than that I have just been sick. I hope to keep the blog updated with how the Modern Horizons playset goes.

PO Box Laziness

So last week we got a bunch of new readers because of the BCW link to the blog based on how I store my collection using their product. It was not a sponsored post but they did send me some goodies because I let them us my pictures and post! I was out of town for work, so I just got the picture from my wife with my son sitting on the new package, trying to get into it.
When I finally got home this is what I found in the box...
I already have a bunch of these boxes! Yeah well it was not the boxes themselves, but what was inside that counts!
Now as everyone know I am a KMC guy and with my OCD I am already shaking a little bit at the thought of using these. There is not that much of a difference but I would know, and I would lose sleep about it. I am going to try and find a good use for them, seeing as all my 105,248 cards in my collection already have a perfect sleeve on them, I am just not sure what to do.
These I am sure going to use for my next EDH decks I want to build. I always wanted to see how they held up to playing, and since I normally use Dragon Shield this will be a nice change of feel. Only thing I wish they were was Matted instead of Gloss.
And these! I am super excited about these. As you know, I have my own separators that I use for the collection, but these are perfect for just normal everyday use. Like if I am doing the sort on a collection and I need temporary dividers to keep things apart, these types of dividers work great. If you remember back in the Kaladesh days I found out that they were discontinuing the holiday gift box and I went out to pick up all the ones I could find. Not only do I love the boxes, but the separators you got with them work so well! I actually thought of picking up a bunch of these on my last order, so I am happy to see how these work!
And with this one you need to pay attention. Next to the long box you can see a bunch of black foam blocks. Wonderful foam blocks! I have talked about it before, and explained a bunch of different uses for extra boxes that get shipped with some WoTC products, like the new Bundles with the extra long skinny black box that goes on the bottom of the Bundle. They are great to use as spacers when you have larger BCW boxes with a lot of cards, but not enough to fill up a row. These foam blocks are perfect for that use case, but now I can get a tighter squeeze, and these will work great with my foils. I will be able to really pack in the foil cards so no air can get to them.
I broke again. So I have another Amazon Credit Card, and they were also offering no interest for 18 months on any purchase above some amount. Modern Horizon is also coming out this weekend, and I wanted more than just the 4 boxes I got from the LGS, and when I checked they had sold out anyway. So I broke down and bought 2 more boxes from evil Amazon! They should be coming in the mail next week.
But...
I also picked up some stuff for the collection...
Number 2 of 3 in the Mercadian Masques block! One of the crappiest sets out there and the only set worse is Dragon Maze. For all you folks out there that do not think sealed product is investable, well I just bought this thing for $375! If it is old enough and sealed, it will go up in price. And the only reason I broke down and bought the stupid thing is because I did not want it to go up anymore before I could buy it. No Interest, done!
Oh but that is right, Number 3 of 3 in the block! I figured if I was going in for that box, I might as well get it's brother now instead of when the prices inflate more. So now I am totally done with Mercadian Masques block.
That leaves 3 more sealed boxes to get.
Coldsnap
7th Edition
Urza's Destiny
I might be able to pickup a Coldsnap this year, but unless I send a lot more cards on CardSphere I will be waiting until next year to grab the other two. If I do end up getting my other two credit cards paid off and I find something else on Amazon, I am going to be pulling the trigger. Then it is the slow roll through the Fat Packs! I might try and get Portal and Starter 1999, but who knows.
So yeah come trade with me on CardSphere!

And that is it for today. I need to get up to the post office and grab some envelops!
